About this survey

The Office for Students (OfS) and Advance HE are collecting evidence on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the higher education sector and how institutions are responding.

We are seeking evidence to help us better understand how institutions are responding to the opportunities AI presents, as well as how they are identifying and mitigating the risks it may introduce.

Our aim is to build a clearer picture of how AI is shaping higher education, and how the sector is adapting in practice. We will publish a report summarising our findings, highlighting emerging themes and examples of institutional practice, supporting institutions to contextualise and reflect on their own approach.

This survey is structured around six themes where the impact of AI is significant and growing:

  • Theme 1: teaching and learning
  • Theme 2: academic integrity and assessment
  • Theme 3: AI skills and literacy
  • Theme 4: access and participation
  • Theme 5: strategy, efficiency and operations
  • Theme 6: regulatory and policy environment

There is no obligation to respond to all themes. Thank you for taking the time to participate.

Please respond by Friday 10 July 2026.
